Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Stafon Johnson ran two yards into the end zone with 1:05 left, as third-ranked Southern California upended eighth-ranked Ohio State, 18-15, in a clash between college football powerhouses at The Horseshoe. Jermichael Finley Jersey. The Ohio State defense provided problems for USC (2-0) for most of the game and scored a safety in the third quarter to give the Buckeyes the lead. But the Trojans took over at their own 14 about midway through the final quarter and sustained a long drive that was capped by Johnsons TD and a two- point conversion. Freshman quarterback Matt Barkley was central to USCs success on the final drive, as he completed two long passes for first downs and converted a fourth- down chance with a QB sneak. Johnson ran for 50 yards and two scores on 11 carries, while Barkley finished with 195 yards passing and an interception on 15-of-31 completions for the Trojans, who survived a record hostile crowd at The Horseshoe to pick up their seventh straight win over Ohio State. It was a much different contest from the teams early season matchup last year, when USC won by a 35-3 score. "It was a terrific night of football and both defenses did not let up," USC head coach Pete Carroll said. "Ohio States defense did a great job and it took every second to get it done. It was a very special game and we will cherish it for a long time." Terrelle Pryor threw for 177 yards on 11-of-25 completions and was intercepted once for the Buckeyes (1-1). Daniel Herron ran for 44 yards and a score on 18 carries. "The whole team is going to take this hard," Herron said. "We had it and it just slipped away. We will come out with a chip on our shoulder and keep working hard and getting better." On the winning drive, USC did not start well, as Barkley was sacked for a loss of four yards on the first play. A five-yard penalty on USC backed the Trojans back up to their five-yard line, but Joe McKnight ripped off a 11-yard run. Barkley then found McKnight for 21 yards and a first down before going to Anthony McCoy for 26 yards. The second long pass got the Trojans across midfield to the OSU 37, where the drive sputtered a bit. But faced with a 4th-and-1, Barkley kept the ball and gained two yards for a fresh set of downs with about 3 1/2 minutes to go. McKnight ran a number of times from there, and his nine-yard dash brought the ball to the OSU six, where USC faced a 3rd-and-1 with 1:14 to play. Barkley again kept the ball, rushing for four yards to set up a 1st-and-goal at the two, and on the next play, Johnson ran off the right end into the end zone to put the Trojans on top. For the two-point conversion, Barkley found McKnight in the left flat, and McKnight dove into the end zone to make it an 18-15 game with 1:05 left. "You really have got to believe youre going to score in that situation," Barkley said. "I knew we were going to score. Its important that you really just go with that mindset." Ohio State began its last-gasp drive at its own 36 and faced a big setback after a penalty moved the team back to the 18. The drive eventually faced a 4th-and-10, and Pryors heave fell incomplete to seal USCs win. The teams traded scores in the first quarter, with USC getting the first. Chris Galippo intercepted Pryor on the third play of Ohio States first drive and returned it 51 yards to the Buckeyes two-yard line. Ohio States goal-line defense held strong, forcing a fourth down, but the Trojans went for it, and Johnson plunged one yard into the end zone as USC assumed a 7-0 lead. But the Buckeyes responded with a score of their own, going 72 yards in six plays. Pryors 56-yard pass to Dane Sanzenbacher was the highlight, and Herron polished off the drive with a two-yard run into the end zone. Ohio State got the ball back late in the first quarter and marched downfield, reaching the USC one. But the Buckeyes couldnt break into the end zone and settled for an 18-yard field goal from Aaron Pettrey shortly into the second quarter. USC was able to sustain progress on its next two drives, but neither resulted in points. The first ended on a Barkley interception, and after an OSU punt, Jordan Congdon missed a 44-yard field goal attempt after hitting the crossbar. But the Buckeyes punted again, and Congdon was successful from 21 yards out with time expiring to make it a 10-10 game at halftime. The OSU defense forced USC into a costly mistake in the third quarter after the Trojans took over at their own 10. USC couldnt advance and had to punt, but the snap sailed high and bounced out of the end zone for a safety, giving OSU a 12-10 lead. The Buckeyes took advantage of the ensuing possession, when they started at USCs 43. They had a 1st-and-goal at the 10 before Pryor fumbled on an option, resulting in an eight-yard loss. The OSU quarterback did get 13 of those yards back on the next play, a pass to Brandon Saine down the right sideline. But the drive stalled, and Pettrey booted a 22-yarder for a 15-10 edge with 4:43 left in the quarter. Game Notes: USC star safety Taylor Mays briefly left the game in the first quarter after a teammate rolled into his right knee. However, he returned in the second quarter with a knee brace...McKnight finished with 60 yards rushing on 16 carries, as well as two catches for 45 yards...DeVier Posey had six catches for 81 yards for OSU. Pryor ran 10 times for 36 yards in the loss...USC leads the all-time series, 13-9-1. OSUs last win came at the Rose Bowl after the 1973 season. Replicas Champ Bailey Jersey. DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: As world markets absorbed the shock of Dubais debt crisis, the ruler of the once-booming city-state left town for an important meeting in a desert palace. His hosts: the leaders of neighboring Abu Dhabi whose balance sheets are flush with oil revenue. [Agencies] Its not known what promises were made inside the halls in Al Ain during the parade of visitors for an important Islamic feast day on Friday. But their new relationship is clear. Abu Dhabi has the cash and cache to be Dubais white knight - in a Gulf version of a too-big-to-fail bailout or to help calm markets with promises to intervene if Dubais fiscal mess deepens. The direction Abu Dhabi takes will likely set the tone for the coming week as analysts try to sort out what banks and institutions have the most at stake in the money crunch - which has suddenly shifted Dubais image from a desert dream factory of indoor ski slopes and a seven-star hotel to a reckless spender sideswiped by the recession and unable to pay its bills. Just this month, Dubais ruler, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, assured international investors that all was well with Dubais finances and told media critics to shut up. Differences between the two city-states remain on how to approach the economy and the financial crisis, Sabra added. But now Abu Dhabi is obviously the more dominant emirate. Dubais empty pockets - mostly drained by collapsing real estate prices and over-ambitious development plans - touched off panic selling across world markets on fears that the reckoning from the global recession is not over. In a surprise announcement Wednesday, Dubai said it seeks a six-month delay in paying creditors on nearly $60 billion in debt held by its main development arm, Dubai World, whose holdings range from port operations around the world, Dubais iconic palm-shaped island and the luxury retailer Barneys New York. The next tranche was a $3.52 billion bond due Dec. 14 by Dubai Worlds troubled real estate division, Nakheel. On Friday, the Dow Jones industrial average suffered its biggest drop in nearly a month - closing down 154.48, or 1.5 percent, to 10,309.92, in a shorted trading day because of the Thanksgiving break. Asian exchanges fell sharply for a second day, but European markets bounced back on confidence the Dubai damage would not spread to other Gulf economies. Dubai and other Middle East financial markets reopen Monday after an Islamic holiday. But much attention will remain on Abu Dhabis response. It stepped in earlier this year with a $10 billion bailout for Dubai when the first blast of the recession hit. DDubai ruler Sheik Mohammed has stressed the close bonds between the two most powerful emirates in the UAE, which celebrates its national day on Wednesday and offers a perfect forum to display unity. Lardarius Webb Jersey An editorial in The National newspaper - which is bankrolled by Abu Dhabi and closely reflects the opinions of its rulers - said Dubais infrastructure is sound and pointed out General Motors revival after receiving a US-backed bailout in comments that suggested an unchecked Dubai meltdown could harm the entire country. Confidence is a fragile commodity, said the Friday editorial. Yet Abu Dhabis largesse may be reaching some limits. On the same day that Dubai announced its debt payment standstill, two Abu Dhabi-controlled banks bought $5 billion in Dubai bonds for a stopgap cash infusion, but went no further. I guess Abu Dhabi is saying there will be no blank check for Dubai, said Jane Kinninmont, a London-based specialist on Gulf economies at the Economist Intelligence Unit. What Abu Dhabi could get for their money, however, is greater long-term influence over Dubais development policies. That would essentially mean giving the wealthy and more conservative rulers in the UAEs capital the task of trying to rein in Dubai after years of living beyond its means. Dubai crash landed about a year ago as the global economic downturn ended a sizzling property boom, which saw prices skyrocket and investors lining up for new projects. The state-backed Dubai World led the charge with a catalog brimming with ever-bigger ideas and the bold motto: The sun never sets on Dubai World. Some were completed before the bubble burst, such as the Palm Jumeirah island that included a Hollywood A-list opening of the Atlantis resort in November 2008. But dozens of major projects, including entire mini-cities in the desert, have been shelved. Abu Dhabi has moved ahead with more caution - comfortable in the fact it has vast oil wealth that Dubai does not enjoy. Its rulers have concentrated on what they see as attempts to gain global stature as hub for culture and innovation: funding an alternative energy research center and building satellite museums for the Louvre and Guggenheim. The Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund is constantly on the hunt for new investments, including US companies such as Citigroup Inc. Abu Dhabis strategists are expected to dig deeper into Dubai Worlds books before deciding their next move, analysts say. Dubai officials said plans to restructure Dubai World will not include its profitable ports management division, DP World, which has a presence in nearly 50 facilities around the world. The main retooling will be to Dubai Worlds battered real estate units, led by Nakheel. A report from Goldman Sachs said the lenders HSBC Holdings PLC and Standard Chartered PLC could have the most exposure to Dubai debt, but the potential credit losses appeared relatively small. The deeper risks could directly hit Emirates banks and investment firms. Christopher Davidson, an expert in Emirate affairs at Britains Durham University, wondered if Abu Dhabi wanted to become too deeply involved in lifting Dubai from its fiscal wreckage. There is no point throwing good money into Dubais black holes, Davidson said. These are mistakes of Sheik Mohammed and he needs to deal with them. ' ' '
